Web Query results different (2003 SP3)

Post by steveh »

Hi all

If I open my workbook at home and allow the web query to run it is fine and returns all of the temperatures in °C, if I open the same workbook and allow the refresh at the office it brings them in as °F.

I have checked the language settings and the advanced settings on both machines and they are both set to UK. Has anybody got a clue why this would do that and more to the point can I force a workbook or a web query to return the values in °C (I much prefer using °F but all of my other offices world wide (except JFK) don't))

Hi Hans

http://www.intellicast.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; but at home it automatically displays in °C but at the office it always shows as °F, I went through the web settings to the best of my knowhow ( ) but could not see any apparent differences.

Does your internet connection from work go through a proxy server? Some web sites display different content depending on the country the query comes from, and the proxy server may be in a different country to you.

Strange - I get temperatures in Fahrenheit although I live in a country that uses Celsius exclusively. There doesn't seem to be any way to set a preference.
Best wishes,
Hans

I tried via lots of different proxy servers, and they all gave me Fahrenheit.

I wondered about that too, I even tried changing my preferred language to French in case that helped.

Hm

More luck than judgement I guess, the whole workbook is a mess now because it is giving me half in C and half in F and never consistently, I am trialing http://www.timeanddate.com/weather/australia/sydney/ext" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for forecast weather and that seems consistent at the moment.
