Updating pivot tables

Post by BittenApple »

Hello team,
When I come to update a pivot table that I have inherited, it says I don't have access to source data. I wonder if I can update pivot table this way.

Regards,

Click anywhere in the pivot table.
Activate the PivotTable analyze tab of the ribbon.
Click the 'Change Data Source' button in the Data group.
What does the dialog tell you?

Hans

In File Explorer. select View > Options.
This activates the Folder Options dialog.
Activate the View tab.
Under 'Hidden files and folders', select the option 'Show hidden files, folders and drives'.
Click OK.

Can you access the folder now?
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Hello Hans,
I hope you are doing well.

Still, I can't see the source of data. In the pivot table, change the data that you want to analyze: select a table or range: I can see a path to a folder which belongs to my boss and I don't have access to it.
Thanks for your time and your answer.

In that case, you won't be able to update the pivot table. That is only possible if you have access to the source data. You can't just wave a magic wand to update from data you cannot access.

Hans
