I learned in another post that there is an Access Run Time module....but I can't seem to determine if a Word 2010 runtime program is available. I have end users that need only the ability to open and print a document originally created in Microsoft Word 2010. When I google Word Run TIme---I get lots of hits on the run time errors, but nothing on whether a 2010 runtime version is available and if it can open and print 2010 version documents.
Please forgive me...but it will save another post in the EXCEL forum---as I need the same functionality for Excel.
Thanks
JimC

Re: Microsoft Word RunTime
You need the Word & Excel viewers:
Word: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=4" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Excel: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=10" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Word: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=4" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Excel: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=10" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Microsoft Word RunTime
TonyE...thanks.
I noticed that the date published on the Microsoft Word Viewer downlaod page is 9/26/2007...Can I safely assume that this viewer will open a 2010 Word document? I would guess that there had to be some new features implemented in Word 2010 that were not in the 2007 version--so I would "think" that a newer viewer would be needed, yes?
Thank you.

Re: Microsoft Word RunTime
The instructions for the Word viewer indicate that if you install the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint File Formats after you install the Word viewer, it will let you view the new document formats.

Re: Microsoft Word RunTime
An alternative approach is to use OpenOffice, it can read the newer Microsoft Office document formats.

TonyE--thanks again.
I have used Open office periodically on my home computer...but I'll need to read the license agreement carefully as I am uncertain whether it can be used for "free" in a work environment [i.e. a for-profit enterprise].
Do you happen to be familiar enough with its licensing agreement to know if it can be used in a work environment? Thanks again.

OpenOffice is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL). This licence means OpenOffice is free to use, including commercial/business usage.

Re: Microsoft Word RunTime
Surely LibreOffice has taken up the baton from Open Office? (Note, LibreOffice has today following the Wikipedia lead and "gone dark"...)
