Hi
We have recently updated to 2010 (urg!). Anyway, intially the way forward seem to be to take the 2003 template, open it under 2010 and save it as *dotm*. Then create documents using it. I thought that was the best way forward - is there another easier way?
For 2003, we have a company menu and a toolbar with several items in it. What I found is when I saved the 2003 template as dotm it had a custom toolbar and the menu under Addins. What I find is that the menu and the custom toolbar *don't* always appear when creating a new document under 2010. In fact, sometimes the menu and the custom toolbar don't even appear within the dotm template itself.
Any idea why? Is there some other easier way of creating a 2010 template but using the same functionality as 2003?
Ideas needed urgently as I need to provide this 1st thing Monday morning.
Thanks.

Re: Templates 2003 'converted' to 2010
There is no pressing need to create a .dotm. Word 2010 can work with Word 97-2003 templates (.dot) without needing to convert them.
Make sure that you designate the folder containing the template (whether .dot or .dotm) as a Trusted Location for Word, and the same for the folder where you save the documents created from the template.

Re: Templates 2003 'converted' to 2010
Thanks for the response Hans.
Yes, I know we can use the 2003 template in 2010 but the idiots (sorry, the bosses) think they must have the 2010 versions up and running. Pity they don't listen to the people who are in the know of 2010.
Anyway, above problem sorted. It was due to the SnagIt addin which somehow removed the custom toolbar from AddIns and QAT - still don't know why though. Removed SnagIt and it all started working fine. Will need to re-install Snagit again to see it produces the same error.
