Comment shortcuts

Post by jmt356 »

Hello,

Can anyone provide me with the shortcuts in Word 2003 for:

- View next comment;
- View last comment;
- Delete comment (a way to do this without having to first right click the comment);
- Edit commment (a way to do this without having to first right click the comment);
- Track changes;
- Untrack changes.

Thank you!
Regards,

JMT

There are no built-in keyboard shortcuts for comments. You can assign them yourself if you wish.

Ctrl+Shift+E toggles Track Changes on and off.
Best wishes,
Hans

How do I assign the shortcuts?

Ctrl + Shift + E doesn't toggle track changes on and off for me on my computer with Word 2003, but it does on my computer with Word 2000.

Ctrl+Shift+E should work in Word 2003 too, according to Keyboard shortcuts for Word (Applies to: Microsoft Office Word 2003).

To assign custom keyboard shortcuts:
- Select Tools | Customize...
- Click the Keyboard... button at the bottom of the dialog.
- Select All Commands in the list of Categories on the left.
- Scroll down and select DeleteAnnotation in the list of Commands on the right. This command will delete a comment.
- Click in the Press new shortcut key box.
- Press the desired keyboard shortcut.
- Click Assign.
- Do the same for the GoToNextComment and GoToPreviousComment and InsertAnnotation commands (if you wish, of course).
- Finally, close the dialogs.
Best wishes,
Hans

ctrl + shift + E works on my Word 2000 laptop but not on my Word 2003 laptop to track changes.
ctrl + shift + 8 works on my Word 2003 laptop but not on my Word 2000 laptop to show formatting.

The shortcuts now work for go to next comment (alt + >) and go to previous comment (alt + <).

No idea why the shortcuts work on one but not on the other, but you can use the same method as in my previous reply to assign the missing keyboard shortcuts for Track Changes in Word 2003 and for Show/Hide ¶ in 2000. The command for track changes is ToolsRevisionMarksToggle (nice word for Hangman!), and that for show/hide ¶ is ShowAll.
Best wishes,
Hans

Thank you! What about to accept a change and to go to the next change or previous change?
