Formula relocation in Microsoft Word tables

Post by ChrisGreaves »

I spent part of last (long) weekend tooling around with formula relocation in Microsoft Word tables.

Nothing fancy, none too robust, poorly documented etc.
But if you want to have a shot at move/copying formulas in Word tables, give it a shot.

Users of Microsoft Word will be familiar with the concept and limited use of Calculator Functions in table cells.

Microsoft Word’s table functions are strangely deficient in mobility. Unlike any regular spreadsheet processor, copying a formula from one cell to another does NOT adjust the cell references relative to the original cell.

The most common use of Table Functions seems to be in the preparation of invoices, statements and the like.

I thought it might be a good idea to implement a few end-user macros to facilitate minor changes to a simple set of functions embedded within a Microsoft Word table.

So I did.

This is a proof-of-concept model because it is not a full-blown application; nor is it a supported library with a SDK.
