So, I haven't used Word for about a year on this particular laptop. Opened a doc to edit (by double-clicking the filename) and saw that Save As was not available.
Word was acting like I was locked out of most of its features and only allowing me to use it as a reader type app.
Today, I opened Word program first and then drilled down to open the particular doc and now Word seems to be acting as expected. Save As is available.
It shows Compatibility Mode in the title bar; not sure what that means.
This is on a laptop using Windows 10 Home edition.
What am I not remembering or understanding about Word; part of MS 365 on this PC?
Thanks in advance,
Delain

Save As Not Available Two Days Ago
I say this optimistically . . . One day I'll understand it.
But today is not that day!
But today is not that day!

Re: Save As Not Available Two Days Ago
Could it be that you weren't logged in to your Microsoft account day before yesterday? That would explain why Word acted as a document reader.
Compatibility Mode means that the document was last saved in an older version of Word - select File > Info and click Convert if you want to convert it to the latest version.

Re: Save As Not Available Two Days Ago
Thanks Hans,
It showed my name in the title bar and when I went to the Account page, it showed as if I was logged in.
Going to move forward as if this is a non-issue at this point.
