How to reset Word styles all at once

Post by SmallFry »

I have setup Word with all of the proper styles, but now I would like to reset all of the styles back to the default. I have saved a copy of the Normal.dotm to replace when I'm done with creating training videos on how to properly setup Word.

How can I do this with losing the macros I have stored in the Normal.dotm?

You could use the Organizer to copy the Styles from your backup copy of Normal.dotm back into your current Normal.dotm.

I'd rename Normal.dotm to (for example) NormalOld.dotm.
Word will automatically create a new Normal.dotm with the default settings.

One option would be to move NormalOld.dotm to Word's startup folder (by default C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP). That makes it a global template/add-in.

Another option would be to copy all modules from NormalOld.dotm to Normal.dotm.
Best wishes,
Hans

This worked great. I did not realize Word would create the Normal.dotm if it wasn't there.

Thank you for all the suggestions.
