Word2003 Auto-number?

Post by ChrisGreaves »

Now this is a novelty to me. My pal Morley has sent me an email. I PDF it on my smart phone, drag the PDF to the laptop, open the PDF, Edit-Copy the text and paste it into my To-Do document.

I <tab> to start a new table cell, type Morley’s initials and a .GT. symbol, a space, then Edit-Paste and tap the Enter key.
Word2003 prefaces the new paragraph with a two-letter sequence that follows on from Morley’s initials!

This may just be the first time in my life I have used this technique for a person in initials are the same.
I didn’t realise that MSWord would do in cells what Excel does in cells.

Cheers
Chris

My version of Word (2019) doesn't do this, but I suspect it is a setting in Tools > AutoCorrect Options..., AutoFormat As You Type tab.
Best wishes,
Hans

My version of Word2003 now refuses to do it.
I have Tools, Autocorrect, Autoformat as you type, Automatic numbered lists checked on.

I will go home and experiment again.
Not that it is that important ...
Cheers
