I am using Word 2013 and have a challenge with page numbering in a footer. The page number jumps from 37 to 48 and I don't understand how to get it back in sequence. When I double-click at the bottom of the page to access the footer I don't see the "Same as Previous" popup.
Your suggestions are appreciated.

Re: Page Numbering in Footer
Have you tried deleting the pg numbers and inserting them afresh in the first page of your document?

Re: Page Numbering in Footer
Try this:
- Switch to Draft view (using the Draft button on the View tab of the ribbon)
- If you don't already show non-printing characters, press Ctrl+Shift+8.
- What do you see at the end of page 37? A bunch of section ends perhaps?

Re: Page Numbering in Footer
Thanks. One section break is not enough to explain the jump.
What happens if you click to highlight 'Same as previous'?

Re: Page Numbering in Footer
'Same as previous' is only absent in the first section. It must be available in all subsequent sections.

Re: Page Numbering in Footer
If you right click the number and choose Format Numbering, can you force it to continue from the previous section?
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Re: Page Numbering in Footer
Page numbering is intimately connected with Sections and with headers and footers. Each section has three headers and three footers. A single page in Word can have multiple sections. This is especially prevalent in documents converted from other formats.jstevens wrote:I am using Word 2013 and have a challenge with page numbering in a footer.
