Hi,
I had to reinstall Office 2013 today. All went well after doing a full uninstall (using Revo)
The reinstall went smoothly, but one tool (that i rely on a lot in business terms) is not working as expected:
I cannot open any PDF files?! The converter seems corrupt. (See image)
I have googlesd and not found anything worthwhile to help fix the converter or register it or reinstall it?
Does anyone have useful advice to help fix this issue??
Many TIA

Have you tried a repair install of Office 2013 from the Programs and Features control panel?
Best wishes,

Another option: try running Word as administrator using the "Run as Administrator" option in the context menu of a shortcut to Word (or of WinWord.exe itself).

Re: How to fix the PDF converter in Word
TX Hans,
Sadly I have tried both without success![Sad ](./images/smilies/sad.gif)
I have a suspicion this it might be due to having Office 2016 on my PC. I used Revo to uninstall O-2016 and then installed O-2013. Point #4 in the image above says something to that point. If this is the case, how would one completely (and utterly) remove office (and reg settings) so that it does not taint the re-installation? I thought Revo would have done that, but now I'm unsure?
Any other advice?

Re: How to fix the PDF converter in Word
Microsoft has a fix-it to completely remove Office: Uninstall Office 2016, Office 2013, or Office 365 from a PC - see option 2.

Ah...that looks promising.
I'll do this tomorrow morning when I have access to the works install CD again.
Lets hope it achieves the result I'm looking for.
Will post back with the results.

Re: How to fix the PDF converter in Word
Quick update...
![IGiveUp ](./images/smilies/igiveup.gif)
After using Revo to uninstall Office and reinstall
After using the Office Removal Tool (which did a great job BTW) - I even checked the registry and all traces of Office were gone, I had hope that with a fresh install and upgrade to SP1 the converter would work, but.................. No!!!! Ughhh - very disappointed. I rely on this converter a fair amount, and I just cannot win.
I'm not going to try again with uninstall/reinstall - 3 times in the space or 36 hours is enough. Maybe later AGAIN, if I really miss the tool, or if anyone has some mind blowing bright ideas that I can try further.
Cheers all!

You could try a system restore. Or reinstall Windows from scratch...

Re: How to fix the PDF converter in Word
IT does have an image (build) that they can push to my PC to completely wipe it and rebuild the software from the OS to all the apps. I actually get them to rebuild my PC every year or two, just to remove all the junk and provide a fresh slate. I might consider this if this issue starts to bug me more.
Cheers

That sounds like a wise idea to me Rudi. I wish my house had an IT function like that!
