I've got a new machine at work that has Windows 7 and Office 365.
One strange thing with this machine is that non-latin Asian fonts in their native Asian names are not recognized by Word. Word only lists them in their transliterated, latin names.
As a result, texts formatted in Asian fonts appear in generic, nondescript rendition. I have to change the font to the latin-name font of the same font, although they are the same fonts.
Why is this happening? I've edited tons of Asian texts in the non-Asian Windows 7 environment before, and this has never happened before. Did I forget to install Asian editing feature in Office 365?

Re: Asian fonts not recognized in their Asian names
The following is based on a Google search, I don't have any experience with this myself, so your mileage may vary.
- Select Start > Control Panel.
- Under 'Clock, Language and Region', click 'Change keyboards or other input methods'.
- In the 'Language and Region' dialog, activate the Administrative tab.
- Click the 'Change system locale...' button.
- Select the language you want to use.
- Click OK.
- Restart Windows.
Best wishes,
Hans

Yes, that worked! I didn't realize it was an OS issue.HansV wrote:The following is based on a Google search, I don't have any experience with this myself, so your mileage may vary.
