When I open an Office 365 Office 2013 program near the top of it is a notification to check out what’s new and/or update to Office 2016. I have not found a way to turn off that notification. Is there a way to turn it off because I do not intend to update to Office 2016, at least not in the foreseeable future.
Thanks

Do you have a Home or Professional version of Windows?

You could try the Group Policy Editor to Hide Update Notifications for Office 365 - see Configure update settings for Office 365 ProPlus.

Re: Office 365 Update to Office 2016
Thanks for that guide. I was under the understanding that I could continue to get Office 2013 security updates even if I didn't want to upgrade to Office 2016. I may have to call MS support for Office 365 to make sure that is correct and make sure I have everything set correctly. The trouble with doing that is they often don't understand the questions before giving answers and it takes some time to get them on the right page.Rudi wrote:I'm taking a shot in the dark here, but see if this guide helps...

Thank you and I will look into this link.HansV wrote:You could try the Group Policy Editor to Hide Update Notifications for Office 365 - see Configure update settings for Office 365 ProPlus.
Wanted to mention that I did call MS. I scheduled a call back instead of waiting on hold and when he called back it was much as I expected it to be. He was very hard to understand and it was difficult to try to explain what I was wanting. After much discussion he said the notifications I was getting could be turned off but whatever it was he was looking for in my control panels "Programs and Features" was not there so he wanted to take remote access of my machine. Because I was not fully convinced he knew what he was doing since he consulted twice with "his colleagues" I did not let him do that. I came away with the assurance that I would still get Office 2013 updates and not get the Office Upgrade unless I specifically chose to do so. I'm not sure I am completely certain that is the case but I guess I have to live with it and take that chance since I do still want Office 2013 updates.
Rather than start a new thread I want to ask another question here for anyone who has upgraded to Office 2016 from an Office 365 subscription. When the upgrade is completed is Outlook 2106 setup up and usable or must you recreate the Outlook profiles all over again?

When I upgraded from 2013 to 2016 (365) there were no issues with any of the app's including Outlook and all account settings.

Re: Office 365 Update to Office 2016
I've upgraded three machines on an Office 365 subscription to Office 2016. All went well. Outlook was just fine. Be aware that if you have Visio 2013 it may be uninstalled when you upgrade.
