Having suffered the vagaries of Libre Office for several weeks, I decided to investigate reacquiring MS Office. I found a DVD with MS Office Pro 2016 on eBay at a, for me, more reasonable price. This is the version of Office that I lost when my old computer crashed.
Because it is an older version my guess is that it will need updating. Your suggestions and advice for a strategy to apply updates are what I seek here.

Re: Need Advice
You can still use Office 2016. You'll receive security updates until October 2025.
There is no free update path to newer versions.

Re: Need Advice
Thanks, Hans.
Will I be able to apply updates in sequence using functionality native to the applications? IOW, what do I do after I install MSO to ensure that I get it completely updated before using it.
Again, as ever, thank you for being Hans!!!!

Re: Need Advice
Select File > Account in any of the Office applications (Word, Excel, ...), it doesn't matter which one.
On the right hand side, click Update Options > Update Now.

Re: Need Advice
It is my understanding that the click-to-run updates are cumulative. The click-to-run maintenance process determines which files are different and downloads what it needs to ensure the installation is completely up-to-date.
