WSUS 3 - disabling it temporarily

Because of a glitch whereby updates won't download to my WSUS 3 server, I want to get all the domain PCs to download their updates from Microsoft, rather than from the local WSUS server.

What would be the simplest way of doing this, in an easily-reversible fashion?

Push a policy change to disable the "Specify intranet Microsoft update service location" setting in Computer configuration | Administrative templates | Windows Components | Windows Update.
