Permissions when moving or copying

On a network share I need to transfer files to a destination folder. The destination security is set at the top level with permissions inheriting down.

I want the files that I transfer to lose their source permissions and take on the permissions from the destination.

I Googled a bit but getting a clear answer doesn't appear to be trivial...

What I think I understand is that I should COPY (and not MOVE) the files. Is that correct?

Just to make sure... when I copy, I can do that in two ways:

1. Drag the file over (and press CTRL to ensure it's a copy when the source share is the same as the destination share)
or
2. Right-click & Copy in the source followed by right-click & Paste in the destination
