URGENT-Blue Screen/Boot-up Crash/ALL Repair/Install Fail

Post by armsys »

Dell T3500 2 15.T hard drives with RAID 0
Windows 7 x64 Ultra
My newly bought T3500 has been unable to boot up since Sunday (Apr 25).
Whenever it boots up, it crashes and yields a blue screen.
Dell tech support has been unable to resolve the issue over the phone and refused to deploy a Windows 7 specialist to resolve it on site.
Using Win 7 Ultra CD, a repair attempt yields the following log:
Root cause found:
Unknown Bugcheck: Buckcheck 6b, Parameters = 0x0, 0x0, 0x0, 0x0,
Repair action: System files integreity check and repair
Result: Failed, Error Code = 0 x490
Time Taken = 651039 ms
Issues:
1. Boot-up results in blue screen.
2. Unable to repair with the Win 7 CD.

It appears Win 7 can't access the boot drive.
It appears most system files are inaccessible.
Days before it could boot, it has the following issues:
1. sfc yields: Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service.
2. Repair Install yields: Windows could not retrieve information about the disks on this computer.
3. Windows Installer: The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance.

Please help.
Regards,
Armstrong

There's quite a bit about the Stop Code 6B here, but I doubt that will help you.

Personally, I'd reject the Dell as unfit for purpose (or under whichever consumer protection legislation you have) and ask for a refund or a replacement. If nothing else, that might stir Dell into action!

Hi John,
Grateful for your fast rescue.
In the total absence of Dell tech support, so far I succeed in:
1. Creating a bootable Win 7 x64 Ultimate USB Flash Memory. Surprising, it works brilliantly.
2. With MBRWiz64, I discovered that C:\ was set inactive.
3. After C:\ is set Active, when booting up, system error: bootmgr is missing.
4. After copying bootmgr in c:\, when booting up, the Win 7 still crashes and yield the blue screen.
5. In c::\Windows\MiniDump, I can't find any log.
6. Now, while typing this post, Win 7 failed to repair and yielded the following Problem Signature:
Problem Event Name: StartupRepairOffline
Problem Signature 01: 0.0.0.0
Problem Signature 02: 6.1.7600.16385
Problem Signature 03: unknown
Problem Signature 04: 21200983
Problem Signature 05: 16
Problem Signature 06: 0x6b
OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1
Please help.
Regards,
Armstrong

If practical, I would get a replacement hard drive and drop that in, then try a new install.

After chkdsk c: /f
ChkDsk produces the following message:
Failed to transfer logged messages to the event log with status 50.

Please help.

Leif,
Thanks. But it isn't a simple and easy decision given 3T of data without backup.
The situation is even complicated by RAID 0 linking two 1.5T drives.
Thanks for your help.

This certainly sounds like a faulty hard drive to me. I guess it could be a disk controller fault if you are VERY lucky.
