Images without copyright

This is probably not the right area to post this, but is there a site to obtain free images which are not copyrighted?
These would be for personal use.

But one may want to use the free WOT Web of Trust add-in. I don't know how the situation is nowadays, but a few years ago, sites offering free clipart were notorious for trying to install spyware on your PC.

I should have posted this under Web Development. I want non-copyrighted images, but was hoping to come across collections rather than (individual) google-search images.

I've found a couple of great resources in http://www.smashingapps.com and http://www.smashingmagazine.com. Not sure if they are related orgs.

That WOT site is smashing as well. It tells you straight away if a site is trusted. Andy.
