Hi,
My wife recently purchased a small flash drive (from SanDisk USB 2.0) for transferring of large work files between PC's. The other day she gave it to a client to collect a file from them. When she put the drive back in her PC (running Win 10), the drive did not appear in File Explorer. She tried the other USB ports and still nothing. That evening she informed me about the issue, so for concern over any nasties, I put it into our entertainment PC (running Win 7), which can be easily reformatting if needed. No infections, but the drive did not appear in File Explorer on this PC too. Google searches mentioned to open Disk Management and check in this app for the drive, but it did not appear in this app either?
Any ideas how I can recover this USB, ie: how I can make it appear in Explorer so I can use it again?
TX.

Re: Unresponsive Flash Drive
Hi Rudi, mine appears in File Explorer OK, but as you are unable to do so I have not added an image. This is how mine looks in 'Disk Management.

TX for the image George.
The flash drive I have does not appear in Disk Management either, so I'm unsure what to do next to recover it?

Re: Unresponsive Flash Drive
My guess is that the flash drive is toast. Since they're not very expensive these days, I'd get a new one...

Sounds more like burnt toast!
Any wise thoughts what might have occurred? It was just a file transfer between two PC's?

Re: Unresponsive Flash Drive
ARGH!!! I can't believe I missed it!!!
It helps to look at branding!!
I see the client gave back the wrong "USB". My wife's USB is SanDisk (the cover shown in the image), while the item she was given back is a logitech wireless mouse or keyboard receiver. I'll get her to contact the client and inform of the mistake.
TX for the help and advice all!

And the client was wondering why the wireless keyboard/mouse didn't work anymore...

Actually Yes!HansV wrote:And the client was wondering why the wireless keyboard/mouse didn't work anymore...
My wife called the client who told her that her mouse was unresponsive and threw it into the drawer wondering why it was dead! Fortunately she didn't throw it away! They are seeing each other later in this week and will do the "swap out" with much laughter and relief!
