Alt key pad numbers

Post by Graeme »

When using Word if I inset a symbol and select the ° degree symbol the ASCII character code is shown as 176. I can copy the ° and paste it into a forum should the need arise. The only other forum I'm a member of is for keepers of aquarium fish so in discussion I use the ° fairly often.

If I hold the Alt key and type 176 on the key pad I get this symbol ░. Is there a way of getting the ° symbol with another Alt key pad number to save having to use Word every time?

Thanks

Graeme

If you turn on NumLock, you can press Alt+0176 to get the degree symbol °. The 0 before 176 is essential.
Best wishes,
Hans

An alternative, saving a massive one keystroke every time, is Alt+248 on the numeric pad...

Nice one John, 248 is probably easier to remember!

Thanks
