Risks of Disk Cleanup Utility

The Disk Cleanup utility is an in-built Windows system utility that was first launched with Windows 98 with the aim of relieving your computer of old, unused files. On running it will scan a partition or the entire hard drive for files that have not been opened or used from a long time and delete them!

This utility typically clears:
1. old compressed files
2. installed applications that have not been used for quite some time
3. temporary internet files
4. Windows temporary files.
5. recycle Bin items
6. Downloads folder
7. downloaded programs
8. Setup log files
9. Offline web pages
10. Temporary Remote Desktop files
11. Temporary Sync
12. It could delete old important files that you have no accessed
during the past few months [ex. Photos]

As a result of running this utility, your PC’s performance might get a slight boost and you might find some extra hard disk space

Thanks. The same goes for third-party "cleaner" utilities - always inspect the settings/options to make sure that it won't remove items that you want to keep.
Best wishes,

I'd say that Piriform's Ccleaner is a safer way of removing redundant stuff. e.g. I don't think it would
"delete old important files that you have no accessed during the past few months [ex. Photos]
, at least not unless you explicitly set it up to do that.

my favorite one is Glary Utilities, this is basically group of utilities combined together

it's very good, efficient, and easy to work with:
