I have a trading app (MetaTrader 4) that I run all day and it works well.
However just prior to going to bed, I close the cover on my laptop.
Does that suspend the app from running, as it seems not to run after that.
Would I need to leave the cover up so it could run?
Appreciate help.
Do apps still run if i close the cover of my laptop

Thanks Hans,
I notice that I can choose either:
1. Do nothing, or
2. Sleep or
3. Hibernate.
Which do I use?

I have chosen Do Nothing as my option of choice.
I hope it is ok, now I just wait and see.

Do nothing would be the appropriate selection, meaning it does nothing.
Sleep mode is a power saving state that is similar to pausing a DVD movie. All actions on the computer are stopped, any open documents and applications are put in memory while the computer goes into a low-power state. The computer technically stays on, but only uses a bit of power. You can quickly resume normal, full-power operation within a few seconds. Sleep mode is basically the same thing as “Standby” mode.
Hibernate mode is very similar to sleep, but instead of saving your open documents and running applications to your RAM, it saves them to your hard disk. This allows your computer to turn off entirely, which means once your computer is in Hibernate mode, it uses zero power.
Sleep and hibernate quoted from here...

Thanks Rudi, clear explanation.
I noticed this morning that the Do Nothing option worked overnight.

It must have been quite easy for the Windows developers to program that command into the PC.
The guy who got to program this option must have though he'd won the lottery!
