You could try the Disk Management snap-in, a tool under Computer Management.
With the device connected (There are, as usual, several ways to access this tool.):

- Right-click Computer (on the Start menu or elsewhere).
- Click on Computer Management, and then Disk Management in the left pane.
- Right-click on the drive, and select Change Drive Letter and Paths
- Click Change.
- Click Assign the following drive letter.
- Click OK.
- And perhaps click on Yes to confirm.

Thank you Argus.
At first it showed gobbledigook, but after shutting down and booting again it was AOK.

Re: Drive letter changed
Here's a nice step by step article based on the advice given by Argus for anyone else needing to do this down the line.
If you'd like to to be able to tweak this letter assignment behaviour a bit more, you can use a tool designed by Uwe Sieber called USB Drive Letter Manager (or USBDLM). It allows you to edit a *.ini file that manages and assigns the letters automatically, and a few other tweaks and advantages. (A really nice tool that I have used for years!)
