Keyboard combination inadvertently activates Alt

Post by jmt356 »

Keyboard combination inadvertently activates Alt
I occasionally type some combination on my keyboard that causes the keyboard to behave as though alt is constantly depressed and that blocks Esc from working to close down certain programs, etc. I am not sure what I am doing to activate this behavior but the only way I know to restore the keyboard to function normally is to restart the computer. Is anyone aware of what setting I am inadvertently activating and how to undo such a setting if it is ever activated?
Regards,

JMT

Do you have more than one keyboard language set on your PC?
The [WIN]+Spacebar is a hotkey combo that switches languages and you may have accidentally used this combo to change language.
This can alter the way buttons work on the PC.

If you have more than one language, switch back to the default language and see if that resolves the ALT key.

If your absence does not affect them, your presence didn't matter.

You might also check whether the Alt key has become 'sticky' physically - because of dirt under the key.

And check the Ease of Access control panel > Change how your keyboard works.
