Problems Logging In Today

Post by BobH »

On the off chance that no none else has reported it and that the admins are unaware of it, I'm reporting that I've getting errors trying to login. Something to do with 'mysqli'.

It's the same issue that has been occurring for a while. Too many bots.

It was very noticable for me as well this morning, not necerssarily logging in particularly, just trying to use the forum genearally kept getting that SQL error thingy, - mostly that typical
......SQL ERROR [ mysqli ]

User eileenslounge already has more than 'max_user_connections' active connections [1203]
....

As usual with that, a refresh or two gets past the problem

(Edit P.S: By the way I was searching a lot for old posts of mine and from a few from other people. I think I heard that ties up resources a lot. Sorry if that made it worse? - I'll go away again and go back to getting things ready for the Winter appearing: We don't get much of an Autumn here, it tends to go rapidly from Summer to Winter)

Why are these bots registered users ?
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

They don't register themselves, we do. By creating 'registered bots' we can restrict what they are allowed to see and do. For example, the login page is disabled for registered bots.
Best wishes,
Hans

Hmmm. Response time is also lagging.

Wonder why the bots are so busy, here, now?

It’s possibly because I have been away for a few months, off line, and now that I am back they are swarming around hoping to be the first to catch some of the many interesting and beautiful things that I post, Bob, ….

As I have mentioned before in an earlier thread, the 'registered bots' are not the problem. Other ones don't identify themselves as bots, and they use lots of different IP addresses so they are very hard to restrict.
Best wishes,
Hans
