Notifications Bell: How Does It Work

Post by BobH »

I see numbers beside the bell. I click on the bell and see a list of links to posts. Some are not shaded; some are shaded in one color toner; some are shaded in a different color tone.

What's up with notifications? Can I disable them if I find I don't use them? I ask because I suspect that the count will increase forever if I ignore the bell.

 :chocciebar: :thankyou:

Go to Notification options in your User Control Panel. There are check boxes for various options, such as 'Someone quotes you in a post' and 'Someone sends you a private message'. Clear the ones you don't want notifications for.
You can mark notifications as read in Manage notifications. There is a handy link 'Mark all notifications read'; this will clear the number next to the bell.
Best wishes,
Hans

Thanks, Hans.

Not having visited the UCP for a full review since the upgrade, I didn't know those notification options existed. The old gray (grey) matter is not as functional as it used to be.

There are more options in this version, and the notification system works differently (no popup window).
Best wishes,
Hans
