Congratulations to all who made this work. Log in to https using FF & Chrome worked perfectly although posting this reply took a minute or so to load. Possibly as my Win10 laptop is doing updates on an extremely slow connection.

My installations of Firefox and Chrome both automatically convert http to https, so I had not seen this issue

I found an addon that was to set all to https but never used it, I think it was for FF but not sure.
