Can someone send me a PM Please …. Or is it…

I tried a quick test to see if Email notification to me of a PM work.
They always have in the past…_

_...The test I did was that I sent myself a couple of test PMs, the first one a couple of hours ago.
I have not had Email notification of them
( In other forums the notification of a PM from yourself works the same as that for PMs from someone else on you )

Can someone send me a PM Please …. and/ Or
_ is it normal that you don’t get notification of a PM you send yourself here.? .. Or
_ could it be you don’t get a Email notification here if you are logged in at the time? – That might explain it as well.

**That indication has now vanished since I just clicked on Private messages in my User Control Panel . They have also now moved from my Outbox into my Inbox ( But I have not read those PMs yet. )

( In this next screen shot 2 of the 3 shown Inbox PMs, are the two last test PMs that I sent myself today , and which I have not yet read.
( The 2 indicated in my Outbox are 2 which I sent yesterday…. As I think is normal, they stay there until the recipient reads them – I think that is normal. No mystery there )

I have two notifications almost simultaneously from you, the PM and the reply from you above…

As soon as I visit my Private messages, I see the PM from you is added to my 3 previous making 4 in total in my InBox, and there is no indication of a new message . ( I expect as I visit my Private messages, that PM moves from your Outbox to your Sent - I have not read it yet, BTW, but I expect it is now gone from your Outbox .. possibly? )

That is as expected, here, I guess... Possibly the software works a bit differently here then many places and
_a)_ you don’t get notifications of PMs that you send yourself.
_b)_ as soon as you visit your Private messages, the indication that you have one disappears even if you have not read it yet.

It is a bit strange that you would never know for certain if someone had read a PM you sent them – You only know that they visited their Private messages since you sent it. But no bid deal. Just not as one might expect.

So all is probably well here .. . I just learnt that it works a bit differently then.

( Over the past few years many forums have had erratic occurrences of Notifications of both PMs and forum replies not working as they should, occasionally, for some users. No one has ever figured out why, and most often the problems sorts itself out.
I think Eileen’s lounge untypically has not had that problem, or at least I have not noticed it at periods when other forums were having those problems.

The PM has indeed moved from my Outbox to the Sent messages folder.

OK, interesting. ( I still have not read it, not from within my private messages )

( Well I actually have read it, but only in the text from the EMail notification, but I have not read it at all in my Private messages , so it is still shown in my InBox count )

So me visiting my Private messages triggers:-
_a) It removes the indication I have of a new PM , ( even if I have not read it )
_b) It moves it from the recipients Outbox to the recipients Sent - you don't "have" it anymore
_c) It puts it in my Inbox - I "have" it now

Point _b) makes sense. – I “have” it in my Inbox. So… Because I “have” it, you can’t ”have” it… ( If you still “had” it in your Outbox , then you could still edit it. I expect you can’t edit it now, because you no longer “have” it.

Point a) is different to how it works in most other forums that I have seen. In most forums, you have the indication of a PM until you read it, from your within your private messages. But no big deal, one way or the other.

Some people visiting who also visit a lot of other forums might mistakenly think that if they have no indication of a PM shown, when they visit here, then they have no unread PMs. That is not necessarily the case here. But no big deal,
