So what happened?
I was peacefully logged in and reading a few posts at about 3 PM EST, when BAM, I was disconnected and looked at a log in screen of plain old blue and white, not my usual Rainbow Pearl. I tried to log back in in but to no avail. I remembered Hans saying that our server often did backups etc at that part of the hour, so I went off and waited a while, tried again and still no good.
Just now about 3:40 or so, I finally was able to log in normally.
So what happened? Any idea?
I'll go back off and try to log in once more. Let you know.

I received an email from another Lounger today who also had problems, so I'm afraid stuck is correct...
Best wishes,

I just now was able to log back in. Last night, I was reading your post here and suddenly, I was at a blank Firefox screen. Tried to log back in without success. Today, I was able to get back n OK but I don.t know how or why it now SEEMS to be working OK.
I wasn't even allowed to create a new user and that would not work. I DID get a message saying that this site was not secure and Fx had locked it out???
Tried MS IE with similar results.. Other sites seemed to work OK as far as I could tell.

Thinking of Claude and the fires in Australia... any update on his situation? I saw the last note from a few days ago but nothing further. Hope he and the family and household are safe and sound.stuck wrote:My theory is that Claude spilt some of his down the back of the server

Re: So what happened?
So far.....so good!
It appeared to be some reason ( ) that the Lounge cookies were NOT being saved, even though the Options enabled were to save all cookies?
I wound up deleting ALL cookies and waited for Eileen to send a new cookie. Saved that cookie in CCleaner over to the right side saved cookies and at least thus far I am able to log in properly an to the right page.
i hope, I hope, I hope?

Perhaps, but it doesn't work for me - I tried that the first time it happened to me, without success...

Could well be, Hans but that action was the last thing I did and suddenly all appears to be working, so.....SWH!HansV wrote:Perhaps, but it doesn't work for me - I tried that the first time it happened to me, without success...

Re: So what happened?
BTW,for my info, just when is the Lounge cookie set ?
Right at log in or later?
If at log in, them I did NOT see a Lounge cookie set at that time. WHY? Don's know.

In Firefox one can press F12, select Storage Inspector (or Storage) and cookies, that will show some of them.

Thanks, Argus. I didn't know of this capability. Not that I really know what I'm looking at.Argus wrote:In Firefox one can press F12, select Storage Inspector (or Storage) and cookies, that will show some of them.

Re: So what happened?
Argus's suggestion shows that:
If you're not logged in, Firefox creates 3 cookies when you first visit a Lounge page:
- A blank "persistent session ID".
- A unique "session ID".
- A user ID - by default the ID for the guest user.
When you log in:
- The user ID is set to your user ID.
- If you ticked the check box "Remember me"/"Log me in automatically", the "persistent session ID" is set.
- A new cookie is created that registers your default Lounge skin.
I suspect that when the problem occurs, the server somehow fails to assign the unique "session ID", and hence it doesn't know that you logged in.
