Gregory Forrest “Woody” Leonhard (1951-2025)
Some of you may remember Woody Leonhard. Together with Eileen Wharmby, he founded Woody's Lounge, the predecessor of Eileen's Lounge. He was the author of several books about Windows and Microsoft Office.

Re: RIP Woody Leonhard
Sorry to hear of the loss of another pioneer in this wonderfully crazy world of personal computing.
Will this have any impact on Ask Woody or Windows Secrets?

I don't think so - Windows Secrets was absorbed into AskWoody several years ago, and Woody retired some time after that. Susan Bradley is now the publisher. So the site should continue without change.

Re: RIP Woody Leonhard
I remember him; although I never met him, except by email.
A colleague showed me his Underground Guide to Word for Windows from 1994. That day I borrowed a copy from the local library, and the day I returned that copy I purchased my own copy.
I named what turned out to be my most productive application "Under" as in "Under The Hood".
To give you some measure, the attached text file lists only Pubic Subs (i.e. user macros) in this one application. Inspirational doesn't even start to describe Woody.
A fine man who always pushed me in the best direction.

Re: RIP Woody Leonhard
I too am sorry to hear of Woody's death.
I doubt It was Woody who invented dynamic ranges in Excel but it was something written by him that introduced them to me, and in turn led me to Woody's Lounge. More importantly, using them to create an Excel chart that meant my colleagues no longer had to set the data range manually made me look like a god, and that was the start of over 20 years of fun for me, where I got paid to 'play' with Excel.

I too remember Woody. I am sorry to hear of his death. May he rest in peace.
If I ever had a question about Woody's newsletter back then, which he needed to answer, he was right on the ball replying. I knew he retired and, in my opinion, Woody's Lounge has not been the same. I do know it is Ask Woody now, but still. I don't use it much anymore since I was told about this place though.
