is anyone here using 3.1.3?
Any comments?
I have been using 1.3.13 beta quite happily for ever so long.
Thanks

Audacity 3.1.3 seems quite OK.
It is a really good sound freebie which I use in conjunction with video programs rather than use the often included sound software.
Only just installed 3.1.3 so I can't comment specifically on this version.

Seems that most enthusiasts I talk with use Audacity.

Thanks Ron. Me too. I have made 3.1.3 my shortcut link while retaining the old 1.1.3-beta executable.
Audacity does not need to be "installed", so we can switch back to an older version at any time.

My first use of Audacity was to trim the three minutes of applause at the start and/or end of a classical music recital (or a Phil Collins track  )
Cheers

Chris,

Version 1 has long been out of support. Haven't used same for a long time. Is there some reason why you have not upgraded to later versions when they are out of beta?

Yes Ron, there is.
When it comes to software that I use I am hyper-conservative. I dislike spending time learning about the bigger tail-fins when I just want to drive the car to the store.
But when it comes to software that I write, why, only when that software works does the real fun start - tweaking, enhancing, adding nifty features ... Happily the list is endless!

As far as Audacity is concerned, for years my use of it has been to "trim the three minutes of applause" and that's it! All I needed was the mouse to select the applause (or the long silence at the end) and the <Del> key!
Cheers

Back in July there was a bit of controversy regarding Audacity's new owners privacy policy. (A quick websearch will furnish enough links to last a lifetime.)

As a result a number of forks were spawned, such as Tenacity. I've not used it myself, but I thought I would mention it...

Yes Chris, lack of usage is an important factor.
I've been struggling with Excel formula :groan:

Thanks for the tip about Tenacity, John. 'Information collecting' about user's is so widespread that I have given up spending time trying to click Off so many options. If it is not just a one click Off then generally I try to seek alternatives.
Even the cars we drive collect information about our driving. It seems that there is no real privacy these days ...

I thought I'd give Tenacity a try, but when I did I found this:
