The search box takes up too much room in the system tray at the bottom of my screen. Is there any way to make it smaller?
I don't want to hide it, just make it smaller. Anything typed into it scrolls if necessary; so I don't see the need for such a large entry panel.

Re: System Tray "Search" Box
Why don't you just use the search icon?
When you click on it, it opens to give you a wide input field which has focus, so no additional clicks required.

I use neither the search icon nor the search box. I simply click the Start button or press the Windows key and start typing...
Best wishes,

I think the answer is No.
The options appear to be:
* search box
* search icon
* neither

OK, I've settled for the search icon.
I learned the qwerty keyboard so long ago that I must stop my fingers even for ctl and alt. The Windows key has, so far, not really penetrated my consciousness.
