Program Autocorrect

Post by jmt356 »

Is it possible to program Autocorrect to replace an entry, such as "Best regards," with the same entry followed by a break followed by additional text, such as:

"Best regards,
John Doe"
Regards,

Yes, but I would recommend not using the same text in the replacement in case you want to use it without it being auto-corrected.

Create the text you want as the replacement and select it.

Options > Proofing > Autocorrect Options...

You should see the entry already there, and add (e.g.) "brg" as the text to be corrected. OK out.

Unless, of course, you use "brg" as a regular word...

AutoCorrect can only replace single 'words', not phrases.
You might do the following:

Enter the complete text in a document:

Best regards,
John Doe

Select it, then select File > Options > Proofing > AutoCorrect Options...
Enter an abbreviation such as bregs in the Replace box.
Select 'Formatted text'.
Click Add, then OK your way out.

P.S. when you exit Word, it may ask whether you want to save changes to Normal.dotm. Click Yes.
