Zoom Panic

Post by Graeme »

This looks like a Chrome message warning, might be from somewhere else.

I installed Zoom last night for a meeting. This morning this message appeared on my screen:

So I trusted it but I have exited Zoom.

Is this just Chrome paranoia of Chinese software or should I be worried?

Regards

Graeme

When I navigate to https://zoom.us in Chrome it shows
Zoom.png
which is what I expect.

What do you see?

Hello Stuart

I get the same when I go to their website:

The popup appeared the day after installing the Zoom software separate from and at a time when I was not on the website.

That sounds worrying to me. I use Zoom regularly and have never seen this. I suggest ignoring it, if it doesn't happen again. It may have been a temporary glitch on the network or on the Zoom server. Other possible causes are that someone had mapped the Zoom server name to a different address (were you using a public WiFi?), or that you have a hacked copy of Zoom. You may need to ensure you have downloaded the real Zoom app.

Thanks Stuart.

My copy of Zoom was downloaded a few months ago for an astronomy talk. Used once only. I'm on my wifi at home. I will be using it again tomorrow evening.

I'll ignore it and hope it goes away!

Regards

Graeme
