Office 365 Intrusive Message

Post by hlewton »

Any idea why I keep getting a message often times when opening up an Office 365 program. It says to sign into my account to get the benefits of Office 365. I have signed into my Hotmail account which is associated with Office 365 and then I log out. There does not seem to be anything I have to do once signed in, so that is why I log out. This doesn’t seem to satisfy Microsoft. Any ideas how I can stop this message from appearing so often.

What Joe says. Office 365 needs you to be logged in the whole time you use it.

OK never thought of that. What I thought was that after a while, like here, with no activity it would automatically log me out. I think you're both saying that is not the case.

Indeed. Why would it log you out automatically?

I don't know. I never before had to be logged in to use Office 365 so that part is new to me. I am assuming that once logged in it will cover the 3 other computers in my network. I sure hope that is the case since I don't believe I could be logged in from multiple computers all at the same time but I am not sure of that either.

You can be logged in to your Microsoft account on each of your computers at the same time. And you'll need to be logged in to use Office 365. Simultaneous use on multiple devices is allowed.

Thanks. Well I just tried that and I guess I still am confused as to what to do. I signed in, did not log out but closed the window using the "X" in the upper right corner of the browser window, and then tried to return to see if I was still logged. I was not. So are you saying I have to log in and keep a browser window open on each machine to use Office 365? I have never had to do this before and hope I am misunderstanding.

Maybe I discovered what I am supposed to do. I used the "Sign In" at the top of an Office program to sing in. Maybe that will do it.
