PPS problem opening

Post by dasadler »

I received a PPS file and when I tried to open it with PowerPoint 2016, I received the first message box below. Then, when I clicked on 'Repair' it produced the second message box. However, I could open and view it with PowerPoint 2007.

Is there something I should do to files like these to enable me to open them in PowerPoint 2016? Or some change to PowerPoint 2016?
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

1. Right-click the PPS file in Windows Explorer / File Explorer and select Properties from the context menu.
If there is an Unblock check box near the bottom of the dialog, tick it; if there is a button labeled Unblock, click it.
Click OK, then try to open the presentation.

2. If the above does not work, try adding the folder containing the presentation to your Trusted Locations for PowerPoint:
- Start PowerPoint 2016.
- Select File > Options.
- Click Trust Center > Trust Center Settings...
- Select Trusted Locations.
- Click Add New Location...
- Specify the folder, then click OK until you're back in PowerPoint.
- Try to open the presentation.
Best wishes,
Hans

Thank you - it was, indeed, blocked.

Should I infer from this that A) all the Office 2016 applications have trusted locations and B) files from other computers or legacy files may be blocked in Office 2016 applications?
