Link checker in Thunderbird

Hi Folks,
I used to get notification of safe links in Windows Live Mail with Web of Trust (WOT). Sadly WLM is past its sell by date & WOT has security issues.

I use FF & occasionally IE and the Avast Online Security addon works on both browsers. Do you know of anything I can use with Thunderbird Portable?

I tried asking in Mozilla/TB forum where someone said it was not needed. I don't believe that.
