Windows File Explorer Title Bar and menu

Post by weese237 »

Hi,
I think my computer is possessed. Strange things keep happening. LOL In File Explorer, the top two "bars" are now flipped. Don't know how that happened. Noticed it today. I can't find a fix to put it back the way it was.
Anyone have any ideas?

Your computer isn't possessed. This change happened in the update to Windows 11 23H2, simultaneously with the introduction of tabs in File Explorer.
I recommend getting used to it. There is a registry hack to revert, but that will probably be undone with a future Windows update...
Best wishes,
Hans

It's looked that way to me from the get go (new laptop last May) and I'm using 22H2. I'm not crazy about it either, but it's one of the least obnoxious things MSFT has done, so....

"Hmm. What does this button do?" Said everyone before being ejected from a car, blown up, or deleting all the data from the mainframe.

I'm on 22H2 also which was installed in September. I only noticed it lately. I'm getting slow in my old age. LOL

It is increasingly difficult to determine when a feature is released now. Windows features are usually part of a specific release such as a "moment" or yearly update but Microsoft has taken to dribbling out releases when they feel like it. If they want more testers and usage a feature will appear when Microsoft deems it stable enough for general consumption regardless of fit and finish.

Interesting. I think you are right. I think I'll be finding more new things when I don't expect them. :)

Hi Hans,

What do you think of Windows 11 23H2? I got a notice that it is available and I'm not sure if I should update. Looks like there is a lot of new items with it?

In my humble opinion, it's OK but nothing special. There was nothing that really jumped out at me. But it's a good idea to keep Windows up-to-date.
Best wishes,
Hans

If I may, and very humbly, just my opinion, I would beg to differ… I think his computer is possessed, to some extent at least, by Microsoft. :)
I seriously don’t ever try to annoy. Maybe I am just the kid that missed being told about the King’s new magic suit, :(

I have Win 11 Pro and have set a Group Policy that delays major updates by about 3 months. This means Win 11 23H2 only landed on my laptop a few weeks ago. I can't say I've noticed any new items really. I even didn't notice that File Explorer had tabs until I read this topic

Hi Joe, thank you very much! I’ll check it out as soon as I get home.
Are you still using Terabyte to backup your Windows system?

Thanks again.
