assign PW to folder in W11

Post by Dave Davison »

Just tried to assign a password to a folder but when I get to the stage shown in the attachment the "Encrypt contents to secure data" option is greyed out so cannot be clicked; I see from You Tube tutorials there is an alternative way using a code but it seems rather long winded compared to the first method. Any suggestions other than the second option please? :thankyou: Dave

In a couple of places, I read that the home version of Windows does not support file encryption. This requires a Pro or Enterprise version.

That must be why the option is greyed out on W11, as the Ausies would say No Worries. Strange though why there are so many videos on YT showing it can be done. Maybe the option 2 using a code will work. Cheers & thanks Joe. Dave
