KB5019509 brings new features to Windows 11

October 18, 2022—KB5019509 (OS Build 22621.675) Out-of-band introduces some features that didn't make it to Windows 11 22H2 last month, such as tabs in Windows Explorer.

I tried W11 but ran away after witnessing this silly window. it looks as if the programmers are thinking about 'mobile' development only. Where are the more interesting fields? Why the 'Copy' and 'Paste' buttons for crying out loud, why having to click three times to get to the more useful options such as 'Send to > Compressed Folder' for instance???

Compress to ZIP File is now available in the 'See more' menu:

"Task Manager" is finally returning to the context menu of the taskbar.

But the 'compress to zip/send to compressed...' was already in the right-click's 'More' menu when I checked things. The menu has been changed which is good. Next important gripe that made me run back to W10 was that the option to pin files to the app shortcuts in the 'Start' menu was not possible, and the 'Start' menu was a silly thing. With stuff i don't want to see in it. I may one day check it out again but only if it won't affect my productivity, which it really did in the first versions.

My impression is that alternate versions of Windows have been worth avoiding.
I didn't install Windows Me, Windows Vista, or Windows 8, and I won't be installing Windows 11

I agree with StuartR and will probably skip 11 as well. It would be great if W10 would be updated and patched until version 12!

You know, i really think most of the design team were not thinking about right-click features and so on and seemingly confused desktop versions with a mobile one to save time and money.

With Windows 11 Microsoft has attempted the nearly impossible task of simplifying the UI and still making it usable for most people. Now as they get feedback and usage data they are reintroducing various functions. They will never be able to satisfy everyone.

The thing I see in these and other forums is that the comments are mostly from Windows enthusiasts. These are not the everyday user who just wants to get things done and do not bother trying to change much in the setup they get when the machine is new.

I am in NO way disagreeing with most of the comments on usability but I've not seen many complaints from the vast majority of users.
