Hello, today I was offered to set up a backup for 'OneDrive' it is something I don't need it, now I cant get rid of the ticks on desktop icons as in my image. Tried a Recovery but it never helped.

Try exiting OneDrive from its icon in the Notification Area of the taskbar.

I closed Onedrive & the ticks disappeared.
Here are what folders are on Onedrive, I tried removing Desktop but was not permitted. Any suggestions?

This was what happened when I attempted to deselect it.

Right-click the Desktop folder inside the OneDrive folder.
Select Properties.
Activate the Location tab.
Click 'Restore Default'.
Click OK, and answer Yes to the various prompts that will appear.
