Starting a PC

Post by Ted Myers »

Hello, in Win7 I could have my PC start by showing the log in section where I entered my password. I had this disabled so my pc automatically went to the 'desktop' as nobody else used it, it suited me perfectly.
No I have a Win10 pc, it shows a picture and day, time & date bottom left on the monitor. When this appears what should I do next? At present if I do nothing the screen goes blank. Tried to change it but failed. What I would like to know is the best setting to get to the password input section?
If it wasn't for bad luck I'd have NO luck at all.

Try a mouse click, or press any key on the keyboard.

Open Registry and go to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows

Right-click the Windows key and select New Key and give it the name Personalization

Now, right-click the new Personalization key you just created and select New DWORD (32-bit)

Enter NoLockScreen as the name

Double-click the NoLockScreen entry you just created and change the value to 1

I suppose its what happens when you try to do 2 things at the same.
If it wasn't for bad luck I'd have NO luck at all.
