Windows 10’s New Update Is Deleting People’s Files Again

Post by Doc.AElstein »

I recently have been getting clued up on Windows 10
In some stuff from a long while ago, I read that an update caused a bug which deleted peoples files. That was some time ago.

More recently they introduced some new stuff in a build which is designed to automatically delete unwanted files. I read in comments a few people jokingly saying , .. probably it will cause a similar problem as before and files you want will be deleted again .
I am not sure that many really believed they would make the same mistake again…

Well..
https://www.howtogeek.com/658194/window ... les-again/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
https://www.howtogeek.com/658676/window ... ing-fixed/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

But apparantly it is not too bad this time. The files have just been moved.
( It is KB4532693 , a similar number with one digit, 2, missing to KB453693 which was also the subject of a Thread here: http://www.eileenslounge.com/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=34066" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; )

Alan

Edit.. Is that a typo on that other Thread? - should it also be KB4532693 ??? .. maybe I should delete this and tack it on that other thread ????

This shouldn't happen, of course, but it affects only a small minority of users. The article says "We’ve installed this update on several PCs and haven’t run into the bug.". The same goes for me.
Best wishes,
Hans
