Yes they would function the same way except the it is physically visible. It can take over the function of the defective internal sound device.

Re: Sound not working through speakers
ok, now I need to know what speakers work with this device, any ideas? It seems the device only interacts with headphones.

Re: Sound not working through speakers
I have a similar device myself and was able to plug on the green port earphones and speakers of different sizes successfully outputting audio from any computer or laptop I plugged the usb sound card. Have you tried a speaker with this type of endpoint connector?

Re: Sound not working through speakers
The speakers I have has a USB connector as well as the above endpoint connector.
So you were able to put the endpoint connector of the speaker into the headphone connector of the sound card.
Where did you put the USB connector of the speakers, just leave it hanging?

Re: Sound not working through speakers
The USB connector I am guessing is the power supply of your speaker for charging the built-in battery. What is the brand and model of your speaker? Can you post a link to the specs?

The speaker is a ILIKE IE-206, there is no website on the box.
It's made in China

Re: Sound not working through speakers
This speaker's usb is meant to power the speaker and not meant to output sound.
For sound to come out louder the speaker needs to be plugged into a usb port on your laptop or an external usb power adapter.

Re: Sound not working through speakers
No response by them other than what has been suggested here.
The end point connector that connects the speakers to the laptop, could this be a problem on the laptop?
I wonder if this connector on the laptop can be replaced, since both sets of speakers don't work.
