Admittedly, I've not bothered much with Win10. I have it on this laptop, but it is rarely used. Due to issues with my wifi networks, I've managed to lose mouse function on my most often used desktop system; so I've resorted to this laptop and Win10.
One of my issues is that certain menu options seem to have disappeared. For example, in File Explorer I no longer see the entry for "Computer' thus I've lost the ability to navigate to specific drives and folders. I have no idea why tthis happened as I was able to see those directories and their contents yesterday. Similarly, the option for Display settings has disappeared from the list in Control Panel. Can these things be restored? If so, how?

Re: Things that mysteriously go missing
"Computer" is named "This PC" on my computer:
Display Settings is now part of Settings instead of Control Panel. To get there, right-click an empty part of the desktop and select Display Settings from the context menu, or click the start button/press the Windows key and type Display and press Enter.

Re: Things that mysteriously go missing
My "mysterious missing things" are large sections of text that sometimes are gone. Not consistent. Happens in many programs, not just Microsoft's. Sometimes I see icons with no text, sometimes partial icons, sometimes no icons. Other times everything displays normally.

I've seen reports of drivers not being re-installed correctly on some upgrades. You end up getting the bare bones drivers in Windows. The only solution is to find the correct driver from an OEM and reinstall.

Any ideas on how to determine what is intermittently failing in my complex video setup? The problem happens on all monitors.HansV wrote:That sounds like a video problem.

Have you checked on http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; whether there is an updated version of the video driver for your NVS 510 video card?
Best wishes,
Hans
