move command

Just bought new desk top so Im am stuck with windows 10

surprised to see there is no ... move .... option
theres a ....send.... option which is basically ... copy....
but I often want to move stuff into some folder or other .... crazy that this option is not in windows 10 !

If you drag files or folders to another location on the same disk, you will move them.
If you drag files or folders to another location on another disk, you will copy them by default, but if you hold down the Shift key when you release the mouse button, you will move them instead.

Another way to move files or folders is
- Select them,
- Press Ctrl+X to cut them to the clipboard (their icons will be slightly dimmed),
- Navigate to the new location,
- Press Ctrl+V to paste them.

To move files you'd typically choose 'Cut'. If you right click you will notice commands like Cut (to move) and Copy (to duplicate).
There is also dedicated Copy To... and Move To... buttons in the Home ribbon of File Explorer.

File Explorer is what used to be called Windows Explorer. The Ribbon is the bar at the top:

I got onto that page i hit on the copy and a drop down appeared with lots of destinations

I hit on move.... and nothing happened

You must have selected one or more files and/or folders in the right-hand pane of File Explorer. The Move To dropdown should list exactly the same destinations as the Copy To dropdown...

just tried it again.... and it worked, you re right

getting the explorer type page up... you must then hit.... home.... top right

thanks... that seems to be a good way to get to move files .... !
