iOS 11: Bluetooth keeps activating automatically

Post by Rudi »

Hi,

For those who have upgraded to iOS11 on any Apple mobile devices, you may have noticed that Bluetooth is constantly reactivating. I picked this phenomenon up after recently upgrading to iOS11 on my smartphone. Digging around to determine why Bluetooth kept activating led me to this article (and a few others like it). Apparently, when you deactivate Bluetooth in the Control Center, it does not disable the radio in the phone, but only deactivates thirdparty apps from the signal. The article explains why this change was initiated, but it can be annoying and a potential security threat if you are unaware of it. The bottom line is that if you need or want to disable Bluetooth completely without it reactivating automatically by devices like the Apple Watch and others, you have to switch off Bluetooth under Settings > Bluetooth and not just by swiping up to access the Control center and disabling it there.

Other than this annoyance, IOS11 is very nice (IMHO)!!

Rudi
