Changing the image that displays upon waking up my computer
How do I change the image that displays on the first page that comes up after waking up the computer from sleep? I am able to move past this image by pressing Esc in order to reach the login page.

Re: Changing the image that displays upon waking up my compu
This How-To Geek article is a clear guide for doing it...
I see you are posting in the Win 8 forum, but for loungers in Win 7, please note that in Windows 7 it is actually intended for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to customize their systems, so it involves modification of a registry setting. Be cautious when working in the registry as actions in it can be detrimental to the windows system.
In Win 8 and Win 10, it is a lot easier to modify (without the need for delving into the registry) as the article shows.

Well found, Rudi!
I used the selfsame article about two weeks ago to remove such a 'power-up background' from some Windows 7 Pro PCs which a charity was passing on for use by another charity. It was a bit of a pain and (of course!) required at least one reboot to remove.
I presume the wake-up-from-sleep background is the same one...

TX. I subscribe to How-To Geek as their articles are clear and concise. I enjoy reading them.John Gray wrote:I presume the wake-up-from-sleep background is the same one...
I do presume the wake from sleep uses the same, but JMT can confirm that once he applies the advice.

Try following the Windows 7 instructions, perhaps?

I found the solution:
- Type "Lock Screen" in the Start menu and then open the first hit under Settings.
- Browse to and select the image you wish to display.
