Why I'll be up half the night ...

It's my first effort at brownies.
Flour, sugar, eggs, cocoa powder, etc. etc.

Don't be fooled.
It's not as perfect as it might seem.
It sank in the middle, so the icing is not so much a layer as a pond lapping at the edges of a dam.
We're talking serious quantities of icing sugar once I get to the centre ...

What can I say Chris, that looks absloutely......umm........delicious

Now I know every reader will be asking this question under their breath and ask this on their behalf:

Was the reason you were half the night because you ate some of it......or because it took such effort in making it?

Sorry to be so late at replying.
I usually check mail around 4am.

You know, Jezza, you can be so stupid at times ... :brickwall:

FWIW I followed the recipe as best I could, and the mixture flowed viscously like the ones from the packets ("Just add an egg, water, Voila! You're a cook!"), but the recipe took about an hour to cook at 350F. I checked twice (hence the fallen arches), and it had turned quite sloppy in the pan.

All right, Hans!

You HAVE to make Chris post a food porn warning in his subject lines when he does something like this! :soapbox:

I gained 2 pounds just looking at the pic! :hairout:

Can you tell I'm on a diet? Lost 20 pounds in 12-14 weeks. 50 more to go. :groan:

Just wait 'til next year! :bagged:

Although I enjoy cooking, baking is messy. I use the boxed brownie mix and for me, the taste is an acceptable trade-off for the ease of using the mix if you add some walnuts.
