Source here...Last year we made OneNote 2013 (our full-featured Windows desktop software) free for personal use and the response was overwhelmingly positive. We’ve heard from many of you that enjoy the ability to take and share notes, ink and highlight directly on the page and stay organized with instant search. And we’ve also heard from many who want more from the OneNote 2013 free edition.
Today we’re happy to share that we’re adding even more to the free edition. We’re removing all feature restrictions from OneNote 2013. Starting today you’ll be able to access the full power of OneNote on your PC

OneNote is a kind of digital scratchpad or notepad - you can type text anywhere, draw, paste bits and pieces from other applications etc.
You can organize your notes into notebooks, search them, etc.
It can be very handy if you want to collect notes etc. in a freeform way, without being restricted by the layout that Word imposes.

Re: OneNote is now (even more) free!
I use it a lot on doing my Genealogy research. I have a Notebook on each Project and then a section on each surname and then pages on each person.
I also have a Notebook, for different items that I need to refer back to. For some Forums I have replies that I use often and all I need to do is copy and paste them into the reply.
See attached for a sample.

Have you done any genealogy research?Rudi wrote:Gosh, that is a lot of notes, tabs and pages!
If so you will make a LOT of notes.
The list on the left side does run off the screen a bit more.
